Interchange of ECA Rules with Xpath expressions

چکیده

Event-condition-action (ECA) is the basic pattern for business rules implementation in the vast majority of companies dealing with complex set of either industry regulations or internal business processes and policies. For example, financial institutions have common federal and/or state rules of conducting business as well as specific rules, e.g. inside brokerage or insurance industry. The standards for publishing and interchanging of ECA rules are needed to close the gaps between various technologies used in this area and finally improve bottom line. The topic is especially important during the merger/acquisitions. This position paper is based in part on the readers feedback to the article http://www.ftponline.com/javapro/2003_08/online/yboglaev_08_08_03/

Avoiding Unnecessary Ordering Operations in XPath

We present a sound and complete rule set for determining whether sorting by document order and duplicate removal operations in the query plan of XPath expressions are unnecessary. Additionally we define a deterministic automaton that illustrates how these rules can be translated into an efficient algorithm. This work is an important first step in the understanding and tackling of XPath/XQuery o...

ASP-PROLOG: Composition and Interoperation of Rules

One of the main goals of the Semantic Web initiative [3] is to extend the current Web technology to allow for the development of intelligent agents, which can automatically and unambiguously process the information available on millions of web pages. It has been recognized very early in the development of the Semantic Web that rules are essential for the Web3 and for Semantic Web applications—e...

Reaction RuleML 1.0: Standardized Semantic Reaction Rules

1 RuleML is a family of XML languages whose modular system of schemas permits high-precision (Web) rule interchange. The family’s top-level distinction is deliberation rules vs. reaction rules. In this paper we address the Reaction RuleML subfamily of RuleML and survey related work. Reaction RuleML is a standardized rule markup/serialization language and semantic interchange format for reaction...

Complete axiomatizations for XPath fragments

We provide complete axiomatizations for several fragments of XPath: sets of equivalences from which every other valid equivalence is derivable. Specifically, we axiomatize downward single axis fragments of Core XPath (that is, Core XPath(↓) and Core XPath(↓)) as well as the full Core XPath. We make use of techniques from modal logic. XPath is a language for navigating through XML documents. In ...
